Don't miss the 9th Annual Pancakes for a Purpose on February 23, 2019
February 23, 2019
8:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.
14825 Ballantyne Village Way
Charlotte NC 28277
This event was created in memory of Dave Anstadt. Unfortunately, it is now also in memory of my brother-in-law, John Bradley, who lost his fight to pancreatic cancer in 2014. He is sorely missed. The Pancakes for a Purpose event has been created to raise money for Pancreatic Cancer research. All proceeds will be donated to The Lustgarten Foundation where they work tirelessly on Pancreatic Cancer Research. Thanks to private funding, 100% of every dollar donated goes directly to pancreatic cancer research.
Pancreatic cancer is the 4th leading cause of cancer deaths in the U.S. This year, an estimated 55,440 adults in the United States will be diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. While pancreatic cancer survival rates have been improving from decade to decade, the disease is still considered largely incurable. According to the American Cancer Society, for all stages of pancreatic cancer combined, the one-year relative survival rate is 20%, and the five-year rate is 7%. With research, there is hope: research offers hope for an early detection test, more effective long-term treatments and, ultimately, a cure.
